Glasgow based Atlas : Empire have released their newest single ‘Happy As Lazarus’.
Vocalist and guitarist Steven Gillies speaks on the single, “‘Happy As Lazarus’ is our first single since 2023’s Sophomore album, Everything Is Temporary, and it pushes our sound in a heavier & more electronic-infused direction. We’ve introduced bass synths in place of bass guitar, pushed the electronic elements forward and dialled up the prominence of baritone guitar – all of which fuse together to create a darker, denser feel than a lot of our previous record. Thematically, ‘Happy As Lazarus’ examines humanity’s growing reliance on technology and simultaneous disconnection from what’s “real” – blissfully ignorant, spiralling towards oblivion.”
