New Music Roundup – 16th May 2025

Cola Bay – Stick Figure Family

Release Date: 2nd May 2025

In a world where available band names are running out, welcome Cola Bay. This punky alt-rock outfit out of Manchester have released their sixth track in the form of ‘Stick Figure Family’. With a guitar that sounds like the intro of Def Leppard’s ‘Action’ and an overall vibe reminiscent of the modern punky stylings of Kid Kapichi, there’s a lot to take in across the just shy of three minute run time. A fun effort!

San Demas – All In On Me

Release Date: 2nd May 2025

With a strong message of believing in yourself, San Demas’ latest effort, ‘All In On Me’ is a finger on the pulse track that will have you running through brick walls. Vocals that belong more in pop than rock drive the track with a soft yet accessible melodic metal vibe feel to the song.

REGINA – Would You Like Some Fries With That?

Release Date: 7th May 2025

Uruguayan metal from REGINA that somehow captures the essence of 80s thrash and noughties metalcore is next with ‘Would You Like Some Fries With That?’. A track that would have been at home on an old Need For Speed game, the guitars push the track on powerfully with vocals that ooze rock superstar. A strong track from South America.

Noiseheads – Hey

Release Date: 9th May 2025

Grunge and alt-rock come hurtling at each other on ‘Hey’, the latest single from American rock act Noiseheads. Opening up with huge guitars before relaxing into the vocals, ‘Hey’ picks out the grittiness of grunge and fuses it with some almost indie sections as huge choruses wilt and give way to softer verses. A track to lose your shit to.

Hammathaz – Erased

Release Date: 9th May 2025

Modern Brazilian metalcore outfit Hammathaz have already taken over their local scene and now they’re coming for the rest of the world. ‘Erased’ is the latest release in a long line of brutal tracks featuring pulsing riffs and violent vocals. With 15 years across their local underground scene, it’s about time this well respected band took things internationally.

AViVA – Heaven & Hell

Release Date: 1st May 2025

Most famous over here for the collab on ‘STRANGERS’ with Shikari, Aussie pop-rock artist AViVA has released ‘Heaven & Hell’ and, once you’re over that it isn’t a Sabbath cover, is a fun track that perfectly encapsulates the early summer that we’re experiencing in the UK…at least in terms of the overall feel of it. Lyrically a little darker, taking on the feeling of pressure from those closest to her, the track will have you singing along in no time.

Ten Thousand Crows – Nocturne Of Sorrows

Release Date: 15th May 2025

Sticking Down Under, but dialling up the riffs, Ten Thousand Crows are just as evocative as their name suggests. From the outset, ‘Nocturne Of Sorrows’ is a powerful slab of metalcore that will reduce even the most stoic of audiences to near crowd-killing levels of moshing. Brutal from start to finish, there’s a desperation that is almost addictive here.
