We headed to Kentish Town forum in London on a Sunday evening to catch Knocked Loose on their last show show on their EU run, joined with Headbussa and Deafheaven.

First to warm up the stage are Paris based Headbussa, and if you could define hardcore, this band would be within the definition. The crowd immediately reacts to the aggressive riffs and open a wide pit, giving a taste of the energy for the rest of the night. Raw screaming vocals combined with classic hardcore two-step, kicks and punches, this set is pure chaotic energy, absorbed by the eager crowd.

Experimental metal rockers Deafheaven are next on stage. The crowd simmers down as we are treated with vocal harmonies, melodic and intricate instrumental guitar melodies fused with intense screams. It’s a slower pace, and the room is filled with head banging, and a constant flow of crowd surfers to which the vocalist George Clarke reaches out to shake as many hands as he can. This band know how to put on a show, and let the music speak for itself as it fills the room.
A slightly different sound for the night, but one that definitely satisfied the crowd.

It’s time for headliners Knocked Loose to perform in front of the sold-out venue. Dropping into ‘Deep In The Willow’, the crowd lose control and erupt into chaos. The standing portion of this venue isn’t huge, as it’s split with steps and the bar area nearing the back of the downstairs area, and a large seating area upstairs, and with how the crowd has split with constant moshing and crowdsurfing, there’s no surprise there’s a couple of minor injuries and overheating as some people are pulled from the crowd.
As the set continues, there’s no dropping of the pace. Gritty guitar tones, heavy breakdowns, guttural screams, absolutely everything was given in this performance. New track ‘Blinding Faith’ from their forthcoming third album somehow creates further mayhem, it’s the set that keeps on giving.
Knocked Loose have outdone themselves on this tour, and with this much momentum behind them, who knows where they’re going to go from here.
