Despised Mourning – Void Walker
Release Date: 23rd February 2024
With less than a month to go until their EP, Hail Nothingness, sees the dark of day, Despised Mourning have released the lead single from the record. ‘Void Walker’ is exactly what you would want from a band that are promising blackened deathcore. The vocals are like a scouring brush for the soul, drums are relentlessly powerful and the guitars bring the heaviness tinged with a little bit of a groove. Winter isn’t over yet!
Long Live The Lights – Reprise
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Entering year seven of their career, Long Live The Lights began life as a covers band taking on a range of tracks including Linkin Park’s huge ‘One Step Closer’. 2024 sees them continue their journey into cementing their own corner of the market, with ‘Reprise’ being their second release of the year already. The modern take on a melodic pop-punk sound brings the sort of catchy choruses you would expect with a tinge of the sort of heaviness that clearly inspires them.
Wine Lips – Derailer
Release Date: 16th February 2024
Heading north of the border for a short time, Wine Lips released their latest single and first new release since 2021’s Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party. ‘Derailer’ may not have quite the same ring to it as the album’s name but it is still that same garage-fuelled rager that we’ve come to want from the Canadians. Catchy from the off, this one will have you bopping around like mad.
PUSCH – Magnum Opus
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Heading back to the US sees hardcore punk outfit PUSCH and the closing track from their debut EP Bow To Me. ‘Magnum Opus’ is a rip-roaring couple of minutes that should solidify itself as the band’s closing track live. The energy that comes off the track on record is ridiculous, so mixing that into the live setting should see those in attendance lose their metaphorical shit.
Decrepit Youths – This Is War
Release Date: 8th February 2024
Alt-rock from the North East is the final stop on this tour as Decrepit Youths add ‘This Is War’ to their repertoire. The song is just the fourth that they’ve released to date and brings their signature dual vocals to the fore. The ferocious track spends a few seconds laying the foundations before getting stuck right in. Melodic sections are replaced by riffed up areas that go hard and then go back again. This is a fun track that is going to push these along nicely.
