Being just the second single to be released, ‘Ad Astra’ is as much about establishing the ‘brand’ of Wino Gandara as it is anything else. Something that the track does with aplomb. Debut single ‘The Journey’ has been out for over half a year now and set the scene nicely, allowing ‘Ad Astra’ to push forward.
Bringing a classic metal vibe to the fore, ‘Ad Astra’ blends that 80s style with a more metalcore vibe that come together to create an accessible song that will please all generations of metal fans. Whilst vocally it isn’t perfect, that rawness combined with the garage vibe from the rest of the track gives a uniqueness and DIY feel that is sorely missed in modern metal.
