Introducing: Live Wire – All In Good Time

Live Wire – All In Good Time

Release Date: 12th January 2024

Alt-rock from the east of England is the order of the day with Live Wire from Cambridge. The band are striving to bring six decades’ worth of music together to form an alt-rock band that has fused itself to some 60s rock ‘n’ roll. ‘All In Good Time’ brings sleazy vocals and fast-paced rock together with catchy, clanky keyboards and together it somehow makes a noughties indie track that could well have come straight out of any of the previous eras of music. All in all, this is a fun listen that has the uniqueness to succeed in the saturated modern era.

Check out ‘All In Good Time’ here and read our interview with Louis from the band below while you listen:

Heya, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today! For those living under a rock, can you tell us a bit about yourselves as a band?

Louis: Well, we’re a London-based rock band whose niche I haven’t been able to accurately identify yet, seeing as we’ve been labelled a thousand different things over the years. Which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing. When people rattle their brains attempting to liken you to any one band or sub-genre in particular, you feel as if you’re creating something unique. The closest I can think of would be Glam-Punk though. Our band consists of 5 members: Alfie (vocals), Aslan (bass) Jas (drums), Louis (rhythm guitar) and Sammy (lead guitar). We formed as a three-piece back in 2019 with Jas and Sam joining a little later down the road. And ever since then we’ve garnered somewhat of a cult following among our live audience who we love and who love us; sometimes a little intensely.

You’ve just released new music, can you tell us a little about it and what it means to you?

Our new song, ‘All In Good Time’ is about being on tour and missing the people waiting for you back at home. The protagonist finds themselves caught in two minds; where in order to keep their relationship they feel as if the band must suffer. And vice versa. I think what best sums up this sentiment is the bridge, middle eight or whatever you wanna call it. It’s really the centerpiece of the song: “don’t wanna be kicked out one way or the other, to choose between abandoning lover or brother, and either way I’m only ever half-full, but would rather that than nothing at all”.

Do you have a favourite track on there or is it like picking your favourite dog breed?

Speaking exclusively in terms of songs we’ve released, this is without a doubt our finest work so far. For no other reason than it being far more structurally sound than our other tunes. It still carries the weight and resonance of those former songs, but takes ideas from them and transforms them into something that sounds, to my ears, far more mature. And we have every intention of continuing to move in this sort of direction which I’m very excited for. Hence I made a point of saying it’s the best out of our “released” works. As there’s far hotter in the pipeline still to come.

Can you give us an insight into how you write tracks and has this changed as you’ve become more comfortable working together?

I (Louis) write the songs in their entirety and present them to the band to rehearse. That’s the way we’ve always worked and I’m more than happy to continue down that route. I’m writing all the time and constantly finding new and subtle ways of keeping things fresh. An example of this being the two instances on which I sought out lyrics from the other band members and wrote songs around those. Which was a lot of fun and not how I typically go about things (chords, then words after). And it culminated in two great songs. One of which was our previous single, ‘Make My World Cave In’ (penned by Jas), and the other is actually going to be our next single. So watch this space for that.

What was the original inspiration for you wanting to get into music and is the current style where you thought you would head?

I think as is the case with most British teenagers, my earliest musical influences stemmed from the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Bands like Oasis, Blur, Suede, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers and Elastica. More recently though it’s a whole hodgepodge of genres and sounds ranging from Buzzcocks to The Damned to New Order to The Cribs. Which I suppose is all a part of my endeavour to not be tied down to any one genre in particular and keep exploring music you wouldn’t otherwise have thought you’d enjoy. It’s certainly led me to some of my favourite bands of the past few years.

Do you have any upcoming plans you’re excited about?

The release of our next single is something that excites me immeasurably. Purely because it’s quite a left turn for us and, to put it bluntly, is in such stark contrast to anything we’ve released prior. I implore anyone reading this to give us a follow and stick around for that if you enjoyed, ‘All In Good Time’.

What’s the ultimate goal for the band? Headlining major festivals, playing a certain venue or just having as much fun as you can?

To be as big as the biggest band you can think of. I don’t see the point of being in a band if that isn’t your aim, quite frankly.

Outside of the day-to-day band life, what gets you up in the morning?

Music, and the knowledge that my new favourite band is out there somewhere, past or present, having not yet been discovered by me. I live for that song, artist or album that reminds you of why you love music. There’s no better feeling than when something just “clicks” with you. It’s spontaneous and you find yourself excited like a child on Christmas.

Finally, are there any bands that you’d like to give a shout-out to?

I’d personally like to give a shout out to Live Wire. I see great potential in those guys. And Prima Volta. Go listen to ‘Face For The Radio’ by them. Tune.

Thanks for your time! Is there anything you’d like to say or promote while you’re here?
