Settle For Sleep – Decades and Lightyears
Release Date: 1st December 2023
Pop-punk solo project Settle For Sleep is allowing Montreal based Matt Kondoff to express his most poppiest and most punkiest desires. ‘Decades and Lightyears’ is the latest of four singles to be released in Settle For Sleep’s first year of existence and whilst it is buried deep in that pop-punk style of soft vocals contrasting with those angrier sections with catchy guitars and the odd breakdown it doesn’t just feel like everything else out there. A track that is well worth a few minutes of your time.
MAHESHVARA – Om Tat Sat
Release Date: 1st December 2023
The huge track from multi-instrumentalist MAHESHVARA shows just what a one-person project can achieve when given the right tools and inspiration. This massively atmospheric track uses the first thirty or so seconds to build into itself before unleashing dark industrial riffs and settles itself down with some black metal influences thrown in there too. This one feels like it has come out of nowhere but has huge potential. Give it a spin.
Torn Between – Needs Must (When The Devil Drives)
Release Date: 12th November 2023
2023 has seen the rise of Torn Between the Sheffield based hardcore band that look set to make a name for themselves through 2024. With the release of a few singles and an EP, Last Chance Saloon, which includes the track ‘Needs Must (When The Devil Drives)’ the band have laid the foundations for a huge year ahead. With huge riffs that enhance angered yet still accessible vocals, the track, and in truth everything they’re released to date, are begging for some of the most brutal moshpits the UK can muster.
Unit 47 – Rock ‘n’ Roll Band
Release Date: 24th November 2023
Another band that have been born in 2023 and set about creating the start of a legacy is Unit 47, the West Midlands group that have dropped ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Band’ as their final music of their debut year. Off the back of a self-titled EP earlier in the year, this track features ferocious indie guitars and catchy vocals that will have you at least mumbling along from the first listen. A fun track to round out 2023!
