Beyond Extinction have brought forth a new deluxe anniversary edition of their last EP Nothing More Wretched via Dead Species Records to demonstrate their status in the UK deathcore Scene.

The Essex deathcore outfit are back to show what they’re made of, adding two new heavy hitter tracks to their catalogue alongside their acclaimed previous releases. The EP begins with an eerie scene setter to let the listener know they’re in for a very intense and unrelenting experience ahead. This immediately transitions into the first track of the release ‘The Subjugator’. The offensively low tuned guitars and death metal inspired drumming begin pummelling the listener and inspiring expressions of approving disgust. The songwriting here and amongst the rest of the EP is reminiscent of the downtempo deathcore/beatdown sound popularised by artists like Black Tongue in the early 2010s, but with a more modern twist, showing a matured and measured approach to their brutality.

Where so many bands are opting for a sound that emulates and channels modern metalcore, Beyond Extinction seem to take their own initiative and use additional production elements like the samples and synths on the title track, and follow up track ‘Gravedigger’, to create more interesting soundscapes that anyone could imagine as soundtrack to a new Doom Game.

Progressing to the new tracks on this release we hear the band delve into something even more aggressive. Kicking off ‘Reverse Life Support’ with animalistic gutturals and blast beats. This song also features Harbinger vocalist Dilan Alves, who elevates this song to a new level of viciousness, fiercely screaming “PULL THE PLUG” as the signal for audiences at any live show to begin brawling.

Finishing off this anniversary edition is the track ‘Posthuman’. A fitting end to the experience and a decimating mixture of the grinding riffs, crushing drums and filth ridden vocals. Beyond Extinction have shown one and all what they are capable of, but also that they are on patch to becoming a household name in UK deathcore.
