The Whistling Heads – Well…I Mean
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Kicking off today’s roundup we’re in Italy with The Whistling Heads, a post-punk band that are throwing things as far back to the 70s as they can whilst still sticking in the modern day. Formed in 2022, the band released a few singles in the run up to 2023’s debut album Dull Boy. Just a few months after its release, the band are joining us in 2024 with ‘Well…I Mean’, a track that does its talking literally. It’s this catchy, conversational vocal style that makes the track so accessible for those not usually accustomed to post-punk. The catchiness extends well beyond the vocals though, with guitars and synths that will have you having a little bop in your seat.
The Listros – Hands Against The Wall
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Heading to Canada next, The Listros are a ferocious rock band that bring raw energy to their latest track ‘Hands Against The Wall’. Looking to capitalise on the success of their debut song ‘Into The Otherside’, this latest song continues what is looking to be a trend with The Listros of high-power hard rock that gives off an aura of a band enjoying doing what they do with little consideration for what they should be. There is so much more to come from this band and we’re excited to see where track two takes us!
Rat Palace – Look My Way
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Moving south now, Brooklyn-based Rat Palace are a soon to be shining light in the east coast’s underground scene. This debut track from the American quartet seems to be combining several areas of alternative music into one bass-y piece of joy. With post-punk, shoegaze and grunge at the very least all there on the surface there’s so much to enjoy here as the song meanders through almost four minutes of modern rock. This is one to hit play on, sit back with a nice drink and absorb. All while waiting for the debut album to drop so we have even more to enjoy.
Jager Henry – BLEED
Release Date: 9th February 2024
Sticking with genre-fusing rock, Jager Henry may have one of those names that makes you pull a face of ‘really?!’, but they’ll also have you having a little dance. ‘BLEED’ brings the American band into 2024 with a bang, with their first single since ‘Freak Show’ over nine months ago. With the band’s now signature gravely vocals and hard rock riffs bordering on a touch of noughties emo in there too. Whilst the core of these may be that rocky element, there are some layers in here that makes ‘BLEED’ a fun listen.
